Triund is one of the most beautiful and famous places to visit in Dharamshala and every year a lot of tourists/travelers visit the place in order to satisfy their hunger to go for a trek in an alluring destination.
If you are someone who thrives for adventure and looks out for places to explore via trekking, then Triund is the right and the best place for you.

Nestled in the lap of Dhauladhar Range, 18 km from Dharamshala, it offers jaw-dropping views of the lofty Dhauladhar ranges on one side and the gorgeous Kangra valley on the other. Although the Triund trek is a moderately challenging trek, it is quite popular among adventure enthusiasts of all ages and why shouldn’t it be? The mesmerizing view of the place cannot simply be explained with just words – and you should never miss out on the trek if you are one of those adventure hungry souls.

The route to the Triund trek is absolutely thrilling and exhilarating and you can actually experience the different panoramic views of three different times – the dawn, moonrise and the dusk. Everything here seems so perfect that you probably won’t believe in your eyes that it is actually happening.

THE TREK GUIDE

It is actually pretty simple. There are two ways you can start your trek from – one is from Dharamshala and the other one is from Mcleodganj. The trek from Dharamshala is 2kms ahead of Mcleodganj.
The trek that you start from Dharamshala has two halves. The first half of the trek is a gradually inclined walk with the last 2km from Snowline Cave which involves a vertical climb all the way till Triund. The evening sky from Triund is a sight in itself and is a good excuse for camping here at night.

However, the trek from Mcleodganj has its own way of making people fall in love with the beauty of the place. Town of Mcleodganj is always inviting you to join the party with its rich Tibetan culture and the trek from Mcleodganj to Triund is a perfect one with the refreshing walk through Rhododendron and Oak forest at an altitude of 1100 M.

The Triund trek is somewhere about for four days. And if you wish, you can expand the days. Here is a little overview –

  • Day 1: Arrive at Dharamshala
  • Day 2: Bhagsu Nag to Triund – Distance: 9 kms, Duration: 4 hours
  • Day 3: Triund to Laka Glacier – Distance: 8 kms
  • Day 4: Triund to Bhagsu Nag – Distance: 9 kms, Duration: 4 hours

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT TRIUND

The best time to visit Triund is during the months of May-June and September-October. You can find snow during the season and it becomes absolutely beautiful there.
How to get here? Well the trail to Triund is 7 km from Dharamkot and it passes Galu Devi temple. It usually takes 3-4 hours from Dharamkot. You can book a cab or a shared taxi to reach the place.
