Kareri Lake

When your adventurous soul craves for something exciting, you should think about getting your adventurous soul a treat. A treat called a trek towards the Kareri Lake. The beauty of the Kangra district, Kareri Lake is one of the most famous destinations for the tourists and a lot of people visit this beautiful lake every year.

One of the most exciting things you can do here in the Kareri Lake is going out for a trek. The beautiful glacier is located at an altitude of 3,300 m above the sea level and it is one of the highest altitude lakes in Kangra district. The lake looks like one of those beautiful Hollywood destinations you see in the movies. The Kareri Lake is formed by the inflow of melted waters from the Mankiani Peak. Surrounded by mountains dotted with alpine trees, the Kareri Lake serves as a base for trekkers hitting the trailing tracks deep into the Dhauladhar range and beyond towards Minkiani Pass at 4,250 meters and Baleni Pass at 3,710 meters.

The Kareri lake trek takes you the most beautiful and lush sub-tropical pine forests. The main reason people love the view of the dense forest is because it is filled with chir and chilgoza pines, interspersed with broad-leaf species. They are also host to a high density of bird life which is easily spotted in the forest. The place is extremely beautiful and therefore people love to go for a trek.
The trek of the Kareri Lake takes you to various trails. While the first half of the trail takes you to the beautiful forest, the second half of the trail takes you to the rocky and the most beautiful grasslands along the lake-fed Nyund nallah which serves as both guide and refreshing companion.
The Kareri Lake is glacial and you can literally see snow floating right at the surface of the lake and that view is just breathtakingly beautiful.
